City Information About Buena Park Orange County California

Have the best real estate agent Buena Park has to offer supply you with all the information you need about the city and its data. Here are some of the main stats and figures about the city. Buena Park is an urban community in the northwestern area of Orange County, California, approximately 12 mls northwest of the downtown district of the county seat of Orange County, Santa Ana. In 2010 the United States Census stated the population as 80,530. The town prides itself, and also refers to themselves, as the “Center of the Southland” It is also home to a number of world renowned tourist attractions, including the famous amusement park Knott’s Berry Farm. The city is conveniently located within the boundaries of what has been deemed the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

Buena Park can be divided in mass by the path of California SR 91. Giving way for two distinct areas of Northern Buena Park and Southern Buena Park. Buena Park is bordered by many beautiful communities, including Fullerton, Anaheim, Cypress, Cerritos, La Palma, and La Mirada.

Buena Park is rich in history. In 1822 Spain handed over authority to Mexico, of the area that we now call California. And just over 20 years later, at the end of the Mexican-American War, in 1848 California was taken under American control and was introduced into the Union, finally realizing Statehood in 1850. The transcontinental railroad brought even greater growth to what is now LA and Orange Counties over the next few decades. In 1885 James A. Whitaker, a grocer and business man from Chicago Illinois, came to what is now Buena Park and purchased a parcel of land known as Rancho Los Coyotes. His intention was to develop that land into an even grander operation and he envisioned a large cattle ranch in his future. Those plans changed once he was approached by officials from the all-powerful men of the transcontinental railroad, who at that meeting convinced Mr. Whitaker to forego his plans for a ranch, and that what the area really needed was a town. So it was decided, and Whitaker founded Buena Park in connection with the railroad’s railway development. There have been many ideas and stories of where Whitaker came up with the name for his new town. Some believe it was a nod to his home state of Illinois and the suburb of Buena Park, Illinois. But, there has been a lot of proof to the lore that it was really due to the artisan wells located on the land, and the early settlers calling the park like setting “Plaza Buena”, meaning “Good Park” in Spanish and from that sprang the name.

Buena Park is home to what has begun to be known as the so called E-Zone. The “zone” is home to many very well-known Southern California attractions. Of course the most famous of them being the world class Knott’s Berry Farm. It grew from its humble beginnings, a side of the road fruit stand, into what it is today over several Decades, and with the love and support of the community. It no longer is owned by the Knott’s family whose patriarch and matriarch were daring enough to follow their dreams, but continues to be a treasured family oriented haven for people the worldwide. The contributions of the park are numerous and vast over the years, and Knott’s continues to be one of Buena Park’s major employers.

Recent years have witnessed the addition of Knott’s Soak City Water Park to the E-Zone group, and Knott’s remains the anchor for the district. Other prominent amusement draws are the Medieval Times Dinner Show, Pirate’s Dinner Adventure, and a Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museum that are located within Buena Parks E-Zone. Along with the fun of the attraction, Buena Park’s Downtown offers an amazing shopping experience as well, with stores that range from the large retailers, to cute boutiques that offer unique and original pieces. There is no shortage of options and very few more family entertainment driven communities in the United States.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.6 square miles (27 km2). 10.5 square miles (27 km2) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.078 km2) of it (0.28%) is water.
